Looking for a fun activity for the whole family for the upcoming Labour Day long weekend? Head down to the Geelong waterfront to keep the kids entertained with loads of free activities on offer at the 2020 Yanmar Wooden Boatshop Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong!

Held from Saturday 7th – Monday 9th March, you can start your weekend early with an outdoor family movie night on Friday 6th March. The film will be screened on the club lawn with dinner and snacks available from the Marina View Café.

From Saturday, the fun really begins, with more than 120 wooden boats of all shapes, sizes and designs on display both on and off water. Tall ships will be berthed at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and families can spend an exhilarating hour sailing on these magnificent vessels on Corio Bay.

Fairnie Park, located directly next to the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, will be a buzz with kids activities, including free face painting and creative activities all weekend. Your little pirate will not want to miss the Pirate Crew sign up and Festival Treasure Hunt with none other than Captain Jack Sparrow on Sunday afternoon! Mum and Dad can enjoy a coffee (and a treat!) from Rockin Donuts and Coffee, and listen to the Buskers on Fairnie Park. Plus, on Monday morning there will be more pirate fun with Captain Trash – educating kids about helping the environment through jokes, a ukulele and some hilarious rapping!

Inside the Festival Village there is plenty to see and do, including the Opening Ceremony and Welcome to Country from 3:15pm. Don’t miss the Royal Australian Navy Band performing on stage from 1pm on Saturday! A Rock N Roll night will start the party on Saturday evening.

Local primary schools have also been busy creating some fantastic artwork with the theme ‘Solander & Banks: The Floating Laboratory’ that will be on display during the festival.

There’s no better place for families on the long weekend than the Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong!
